Your tasks

  • Perform in vitro (PhD position #1) or in vivo (PhD position #2) experiments on basis of the DFG-funded project "Effect of oxidative stress response in HPV16 mediated oropharyngeal carcinogenesis."
  • Record, analyze and present experimental data
  • Contribute to scientific publications
  • Manage your own research project with direct supervision by the PIs

Your Profile

  • A completed Master?s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology or a related field
  • Motivation, curiosity and creativity, and a strong ability to solve problems through critical analytical thinking
  • Keen interest in HPV oncogenesis and cancer cell biology
  • Excellent communication skills, fluency in English, and a sense for teamwork
  • Profound knowledge of techniques used in molecular biology, cell biology strongly preferred
  • Experience with cell culture and/or mouse work is required

Your future in detail

The Institute of Virology and Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery are searching for two PhD applicants for the collaborative DFG-funded project ?Effect of oxidative stress response in HPV16 mediated oropharyngeal carcinogenesis? Both candidates will join dynamic research labs and will participate in the analysis of the molecular mechanisms in HPV-driven Head and Neck Cancer. In the particular project we aim to develop novel, cisplatin treatment de-escalating therapeutic approaches for HPV-induced tumors targeting the metabolic and oxidative stress response.

We offer a stimulating scientific environment located at the newly established TRIO research building with direct access to modern core facilities (CMMC, CECAD), excellent guidance and interesting national and international collaborations.
